Joey McFarland is an award-winning American film producer and screenwriter. He is best known for producing "The Wolf of Wall Street," directed by Martin Scorsese and starring Leonardo DiCaprio, for which McFarland received an Academy Award nomination. Other notable films he has produced include the comedy hit "Dumb and Dumber To," directed by Peter and Bobby Farrelly and starring Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels, as well as the powerful historical dramas "Papillon," directed by Michael Noer and starring Charlie Hunnam and Rami Malek, and "Emancipation," directed by Antoine Fuqua and starring Will Smith and Ben Foster.

In 2018, McFarland founded McFarland Entertainment, an independent development and production company for film and television with a focus on historically and culturally significant people, events, and topics.

Among McFarland’s upcoming projects is "Nod If You Understand," based on the true story of stewardess hostage Tina Mucklow, the mysterious hijacker known as DB Cooper, and the events surrounding the only unsolved case of air piracy in commercial aviation history. For this project, McFarland conducted months of detailed in-person interviews with Mucklow, which became the basis for the screenplay he co-wrote.

McFarland grew up in Louisville, Kentucky, and developed an early interest in storytelling and filmmaking. His passions include history, literature, photography, screenwriting, and all forms of creative expression.
